"Phishing" is a growing form of identity theft. The victim is sent an email requesting personal information. The email usually appears to come from an authentic source (for example, a credit card company or financial institution) and asks the victim to reply to the message with personal account data, such as Social Security Numbers, account numbers, or password information. The sender claims to need the information to update files. Never respond to these kinds of messages. Always contact the purported company by alternative means, such as a phone call to a number you know to be correct, to verify the authenticity of the message. Community Bank will never ask you for any personal information via email. Please contact any of our branch locations to report any phishing attempts you receive appearing to come from Community Bank.
